As a review of one of rock's most intelligent bands, Remastered was not a great effort, for many of the best songs from their early albums like "Fire In The Hole", "Kings", "Your Gold Teeth" and "Pretzel Logic" are omitted in place of one or two too many tracks from the mega-selling but rather disappointing /5(4).

4. Mar 18,  · However, if you twisted my arm, Reelin' in the Years: The Very Best of Steely Dan is a 2 CD set that has a LOT of the tracks I would have chosen. The sound is actually very good. Notice the girl on the front cover has NOTHING to do with Steely Dan, but the compilation is really nice. Each CD is about min each.

Steely Dan's fans are notorious for their love of pristine audio quality; they loved virgin vinyl pressings of the Dan's classic studio work and they loved the CD reissues. So the distinction that this collection is remastered is important, since it gives the hardcore a reason to check it out.9/

8. Jun 05,  · I haven't heard the Steely Dan SHM's, but I've heard other SHM's that use identical masterings to non-SHM releases and never detected a sonic difference. If there's such a vast difference between the SHM CD's and the regular '99 remasters, then there must have been a new mastering done for the SHM CD's.
